Melba College is located in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburb of Croydon and operates a junior and a senior campus with approximately 600 students.
The $18.4 million investment is part of the Victorian Government’s plan to deliver on its promise of providing excellence and equity in education, from childhood, through school and further education. The state of the art facilities will provide unique spaces for modern learning that are fully inclusive and promote collaboration.
The rebuild of Melba Secondary College will bring together the two campuses onto the Brentnall Street site (currently the senior campus in Croydon) where students will take advantage of state of the art educational facilities. The current works will provide three new double storey buildings and has been designed to accommodate the expected growth in the local area.
Construction is underway and due to be complete in term 4, 2017. This will ensure the school is ready for the junior campus currently located at the former Croydon College site to join the Brentnall Road site from the start of 2018.
The Victorian Government is investing in schools to ensure students get the best start in life and the school facilities they deserve. The Melba College rebuild will deliver three state of the art facilities;
- A double storey junior learning centre for years 7-9
- A double storey senior learning centre for years 10-12
- A double storey new administration, library, food tech, and cafeteria
- Removal of older buildings to provide additional open space
The new buildings will provide a total capacity for 1,000 students.
