The reinforcement works for the gas pipeline on Douglas Street (between Ferrars Street and Meaden Street) starts
Wednesday 8th of February.
Further works to the next section of this pipeline in Buckhurst Street (between Douglas Street and Kerr Street) will also be required. More information will be provided by the City of Port Phillip in advance of these works.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
South Melbourne Primary School (interim name) is a new state-of-the-art Prep to Year 6 primary school that is being built on Ferrars Street in South Melbourne.
The school will be the first vertical government school in Victoria and will accommodate over 500 students.
The project's architects have focused on creating space that the community can use so that the school is fully embedded in neighbourhood life.
The school has been awarded the
Future Project of the Year at the 2016 World Architecture Festival Awards held in Berlin. It is one of 11 projects selected in the Education – Future Projects category.

The school will be the first vertical government school in Victoria and is designed to incorporate community, sport and recreational facilities, and an array of innovative public spaces. Schooling, early learning and community spaces and services will be provided.
The constrained nature of the site offered the architects a unique opportunity to design an integrated, co-located and vertical schools design. They have focused on creating space that the community can use so that the school is fully embedded in neighbourhood life.
Noel Creece has been appointed the new principal of
South Melbourne Primary School.
An enrolment plan will be determined when the principal is appointed.
Enrolments for all year levels are due to open mid-year.

The design and delivery of the school, and integrated early learning facilities, is led by the Authority in collaboration with the City of Port Phillip.
