The Victorian Government is committed to providing high quality early years programs to give every child the best start in life.
The Government, through the Children’s Facilities Capital Program, has invested $60 million over four years to support local governments and other service providers to invest in early childhood infrastructure. This funding will respond to growing demand for places, raise the quality of learning environments and improve access to services for children from vulnerable and/or disadvantaged families.
The works at Westmeadows Preschool will extend the preschool room by 6.8 squares meters to accommodate 33 children. Due to the size, age and amenity of the building, works to the storage and office space are also required to accommodate the increase in children and educators from 2016. The internal amenity works will include removing a wall between the office and internal store room to increase the office size to accommodate additional staff, and reworking the internal and external storerooms to create one shared storage space that can accommodate additional resources required for the increase in the number of children.
The extension to the preschool room will see more space added to the existing preschool room that will look uniform with the rest of the building. The new space will be established as a quiet/ break out space.
