Barwon Child, Youth and Family are extending Colac East Kindergarten to increase its capacity.

The Victorian Government is committed to providing high quality early years programs to give every child the best start in life.

The Government, through the Children’s Facilities Capital Program, is supporting local governments and other service providers to invest in early childhood infrastructure. This funding will respond to growing demand for places, raise the quality of learning environments and improve access to services for children from vulnerable and/or disadvantaged families.

FACILITIES

This project will significantly increase the size of the main teaching space so that 33 children can comfortably be accommodated within the space.

The extension will include a consulting room with full visibility to the foyer and the teaching room, a fully accessible toilet with a baby change room and a new staff office incorporating a significant amount of storage.

The existing kitchen and staff office willl be combined to create an enhanced kitchen facility with low benches to allow children to be involved in cooking activities. The extension to the kitchen will also provide laundry facilities and cleaning facilities for wet art activities.

ARCHITECT

Wendy Hastrich Architect has been appointed to the project.

BUILDER

Apollo Bay Building Group has been appointed to the project.
