Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their potential. That's why the Victorian Government is funding an extra year of kindergarten for children across the state.
So all children can start their early learning at the age of three, the government is partnering with the early childhood sector to build and expand Victorian kindergartens. Along with contributions from local councils and early learning providers, the government will invest record funding over this decade to deliver this important reform.
The Building Blocks grants program was launched in March 2020 to distribute that record funding. It builds on previous kindergarten infrastructure grant programs such as the Children's Facilities Capital Program and the Inclusive Kindergarten Facilities Program. Building Blocks significantly increases Victorian Government funding contributions for early childhood projects and offers new delivery options such as modular buildings purpose-built for kinders.
Councils and not-for-profit organisations, delivering funded kindergarten programs, can apply for grants to deliver extra kinder places, upgrade and improve early learning facilities, provide safe and inclusive environments or purchase the latest technology.
This new streamlined grants program aims to provide greater certainty, flexibility and increased investment opportunities for service providers.
