About the project

We completed the second stage of upgrades which allows the school to accomodate 1100 students.

We extended the learning hub by building a new three-storey building. The new building includes art, design and technology facilities as well as senior learning and collaborative spaces. The hub's existing art space was transformed into a science space.

We also extended the food technology facilities in the school's activity centre building.

Funding

In 2020, Beaumaris Secondary College received a further $18.97 million to deliver Stage 2.

About the project

The new school opened its doors in 2018 to Year 7 students.

It has first-class sporting facilities built in partnership with the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC). The partnership with the MCC will maximise the use of school facilities and provide significant education, economic and broader community benefits. The development comprises the following new sporting facilities:

  • Indoor competition-grade netball/basketball court
  • Outdoor courts
  • Senior Oval
  • Community Oval
  • Multi-Purpose Pitch
  • Pavilion
  • Environmental features are embedded in the school design. This includes developing a wetland to provide educational opportunities and environmental benefits.

These are shared by the college, the club and the wider community.  The project has revitalised a rundown site to create facilities and an outdoor environment that can be enjoyed by everyone for generations to come.

Funding

The 2017–18 State Budget allocated $6.8 million to this project. This is in addition to the $13.5 million committed in the 2016–17 State Budget and the $6.5 million in 2015-16 State Budget. Total project funding is $26.8 million.
