The redevelopment consisted largely of refurbishing existing spaces, to maximise the project budget, as well as two new extensions at the east and west ends of D-Block.
The east end of D-Block house the school's new Design Hub, consisting of various design laboratories and art spaces. It is arranged around a central presentation space, where students can present their work in a university-style format.
Design laboratories include a Mac Lab, Prototype Lab and a Visual Communications Lab. These are complemented by being clustered with 2D and 3D art spaces, and a media room.
The new D Block Junior Learning / Science Centre at the west end of D-Block consists of two science laboratories and four general learning areas clustered around a central collaborative and breakout space.
To further support the design, technology and innovation focus, E-Block's existing automotive workshop and systems lab have been converted into a FabLab (fabrication laboratory) and HackLab, where students will learn computer technology and hardware.
Other refurbished spaces include a new Food Technology space which has students arranged around two long communal teaching benches with a dining / theory space at one end.
