This was the second stage of the Victorian Government $35.2 million investment in the new Springside West Secondary College (formerly called Taylors Hill West Secondary College), which opened in 2018.
Initial funding from the 2016-17 State Budget allowed us to build the first stage of the school for students in Years 7 and 10.
We used the later funding to build the remaining spaces and facilities for the full enrolment of 1,100 secondary students.
Stage 2 was delivered in two portions. We completed the first, two learning community centres, in December 2018. The second created an adminstative and staff resource centre, a performing arts centre and a sports centre, and was completed in April 2019.
We designed the school to inspire an inclusive and high-achieving culture in its students, equipping them with the skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century.
Facilities
The new school interacts and complements the Taylors Hill West Community and Sports Reserve, developed south of the school.
The buildings and services within the reserve are designed not only for the students' benefit, but also to provide improved educational, social and recreational facilities for the wider local community.
Principal Appointment
John Goodman was appointed as the new principal of the school in February 2017.
