We allocated funding to the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute to build an early childhood education and care facility at its Parkville campus.
This innovative five-storey, purpose-built facility is the first of its kind provided by an Australian medical research institute as part of its commitment to gender equity.
This new early learning facility provides high quality early learning programs (including innovative programs such as Little Scientists). It was designed in consultation with the institute's partners and families.
Each level is designed to meet the needs of specific age groups, and has shaded, external play areas. The ground floor provides a flexible, multi-purpose space suitable for combined activities, play groups, health and consultation services.
Services include long day care, occasional care and an early learning centre offering kindergarten programs for 3 and 4-year-olds.
For further information, please see the Children's Facilities Capital Program page.
The Victorian Government is committed to providing high quality early years programs to give every child the best start in life.
