The Victorian Government made a commitment to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026. This includes building a new junior secondary campus for young people across the Bass Coast.
The new campus will be a Years 7-9 junior campus for
Wonthaggi Secondary College, adding to the college's two existing campuses including the recently opened McBride Senior Campus.
The new school will open in 2022, providing families across Phillip Island, San Remo and the waterline area with more accessible public education options.
Following community consultation, we are working to finalise a site in the San Remo area, in line with community feedback.

We engaged with students, teachers, parents and community
members from the Bass Coast community from 23rd May to
14th June 2019, on current education options, priorities and the
best location for a new school facility.
We heard from the participants that it was important that the school is centrally located
and is easily accessible for parents, students and teachers around the region.
You can download the report detailing what we heard in Word or PDF.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our October-November 2019 school design consultation.
We heard that the design of the campus should be contemporary and environmentally sustainable.
The community also values facilities that can accommodate a diverse range of subjects and programs.
