Richmond High School will cater for 650 Year 7-12 students, and make a significant contribution to the area's educational and community life.
We have built the school over two sites.
The Griffiths Street Campus is the home of a striking academic precinct that puts the student learning experience at its core.
The adjacent Gleadell St Campus comprises general purpose teaching spaces, four competition-grade netball courts and community facilities.
We opened the school in two stages.
Gleadell Street Campus
- The first cohort of Year 7 students started at this campus in term 1, 2018.
Griffiths Street Campus
- This campus opened in term 1, 2019 for the second cohort of Year 7 students and students moving into Year 8.
Being located in the heart of Richmond, the school has great transport options and is close to existing community infrastructure and services.
The VSBA has worked closely with other precinct stakeholders including the City of Yarra, Lynall Hall Community School, Richmond Multicultural Children's Centre, Leo Berry's Boxing Gym, Gleadell Street Market Traders and the Richmond Union Bowls Club to ensure that their needs are considered throughout construction.
Facilities
We built the Griffiths St Campus over four levels with state-of-the-art learning facilities. Flexible spaces promote a range of activities and experiences to suit staff and students’ varying needs. The precinct functions as the heart of the campus with outdoor spaces for learning, gathering and play.
The Gleadell St Campus facility includes general purpose teaching spaces and four competition-standard netball courts (one indoor). Sports users have access to new facilities including showers and toilets, a canteen and administration area. All outdoor courts are floodlit.
Founding Principal
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden death of Richmond High School principal, Mr Colin Simpson.
Colin’s impact on our education system is broad and profound – most notably as founding principal of this school.
Colin, an alumnus of the former Richmond High School, taught in government and independent schools across Victoria, as well as the tertiary and arts sectors. In his long career as a teacher and schoolleader, which started at Lilydale High School, he exemplified dedication to students and high-quality school education, culminating in his appointment to lead the new Richmond High in 2018.
