[On-screen text: Introducing Ashley Craig, Karwan Primary School]

[On-screen text: Why did you want to become a principal?]

Ashley Craig: I wanted to become a principal of a new school so that I can develop the school in the direction of my educational philosophy. And that is a place where all students are included, and there's a strong community partnership between the school and the families. I knew that I wanted to be a school principal from an early age. The opportunity to grow a school from a seed is such a wonderful opportunity and something that I've wanted to do for a long period of time.

[On-screen text: What does a good education look like?]

Ashley: Good education is a partnership between home and school. It's about making sure that all kids have success and allows for all students to achieve their personal best for what they're passionate – what the kids are passionate about.

[On-screen text: what will the school be known for?]

Ashley: Very inclusive environment. We'll cater for culturally-diverse, students with disability, high achievers, as well as supporting the growth of students that are new to our school.

[On-screen text: What are you looking forward to day 1, Term 1?]

Ashley: On the first day, I can see myself spending most of the time in the classroom with the kids, getting to know the kids and having fun with them. I can't wait for the kids to come through that school gate on the first morning, walk through with a huge smile on their face, smiling, waving, giving mum and dad a hug, and then entering the school grounds with their excited teachers ready to provide the best education in Victoria.
