About the project

We are helping Alpine Shire Council rebuild Mountain View Children’s Centre in Myrtleford. A new multipurpose centre will be built at the current site. Once completed and services have transferred to the new facility, the old centre will be demolished.

The new centre will have 4 kindergarten rooms, as well as space for long day care, and Out of School Hours Care. It will be able to offer kinder and long day care to up to 160 children at a time. It may be able to enrol more kids by spreading sessions throughout the week.

The new centre will also have a large multipurpose space, Maternal and Child Health rooms and a toy library. It will also have meeting rooms and offices, 2 outdoor play areas and a car park. The centre’s spaces will be flexible, allowing rooms to be used for different activities throughout the week.

Funding

In Round 3 of the 2025–26 Building Blocks Capacity Grants, $9.639 million was allocated to this project.

About the project

We helped Alpine Shire Council with their plans to upgrade Mountain View Children's Centre.

An upgraded centre could offer childcare to between 140 and 160 children daily as well as an additional 15 to 35 funded kindergarten places for local 3 and 4-year-olds.

These improvements will help children get 2 years of high-quality funded kindergarten and meet growing demand for local kindergarten places.

This planning gets the project ready for construction, which depends on future funding.
