About the project
We are further modernising the school, and delivering the next stage of the school's master plan which includes a new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) centre. We will also move two relocatable classrooms and the soccer pitch to open up the centre of the school.
The school is gaining:
- state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces
- a new environmentally sustainable building
- upgraded landscaping to create more functional play and educational zones for students.
What does the project include?
We have completed the first stage of the school’s upgrade, which included refurbishing classrooms and extending the heritage building (Building A) to create new administration and staff spaces.
We are designing the second stage of the project, which will provide students with new science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) facilities and new high-quality outdoor play and learning spaces. Stage 2 will also include repositioning two relocatable classrooms and the soccer pitch to open up the centre of the school.
What landscaping will be included?
The project will provide significant landscaping upgrades across the school site. We will plant more than 40 trees, and retain three significant ones including:
- the school’s emblem peppercorn tree on Gaffney Street
- a large Aleppo pine on Wilna Street
- a small Aleppo pine that has been identified as a direct descendant of the Lone Pine in Gallipoli.
When does Stage 2 construction begin?
We plan to appoint a builder in December 2021 and begin construction soon after. We will provide another update to the school and local community closer to works commencing.
When will works be complete?
Students and staff will be able to use the new facilities in Q3 2023.
