19 new schools opening in 2026 now have their official names and are on track to welcome their first students for Term 1.
What are the new school names?
- Kulap Primary School in Clyde (interim name was Ballarto Road Primary School)
- Kala Primary School in Cranbourne North (interim name was Casey Central Primary School)
- Balambalam Primary School in Clyde North (interim name was Clyde Creek North Primary School)
- Birranga College in Clyde North (interim name was Clyde Creek North Secondary School)
- Kolorer College in Cobblebank (interim name was Cobblebank Secondary School)
- Narrarrang Primary School in Port Melbourne (interim name was Fishermans Bend Primary School)
- Yirrama Primary School in Charlemont (interim name was Horseshoe Bend Primary School)
- Kerribana Primary School in Leneva (interim name was Leneva (Frederic Street Road) Primary School)
- Ngayuk College in Kalkallo (interim name was Lockerbie Secondary School)
- Marra School in Kalkallo (interim name was Lockerbie Specialist School)
- Gamadji Primary School in Craigieburn (interim name was Mickleham South Primary School)

How were the names selected?
In 2023, the Victorian Government announced that First Nations language names would be preferenced in an initiative to further promote First Nations self-determination, language, and culture across the state.
The 2026 new school names were chosen with input from Traditional Owner groups, Geographic Names Victoria and via public consultation before approval by the Minister for Education.
