About the project

We're building a primary school. It will open in 2027 with places for up to 700 students.

This school will help meet increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. It will ease pressure on surrounding schools and help local students get high-quality education close to home.

When open for Term 1, 2027 the school will include:

  • 2 learning neighbourhoods
  • an administration and library building with spaces for specialist subjects
  • a community hub
  • a sports field
  • outdoor hardcourts
  • a staff carpark.

Principal appointment

Tami-Jo Richter has been appointed principal of Aintree North Primary School (interim name). She has strong ties to Melbourne’s western suburbs. The values of care, courage, commitment and community have guided Tami-Jo's work. She will draw on more than 32 years of experience to deliver inclusive, high-quality learning at this new school.

Enrolments for 2027

The school is open for enrolments from Monday 20 April 2026 for students in Foundation (Prep) to Grade 6. Find out if you're in the school zone by entering your address on the Find My School website (select 2027 as the enrolment year).

Your new school’s name

We have been using Aintree North Primary School as an interim name while the school was being planned and designed. We recently consulted with the community on a name for this school.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public consultation and provided us with feedback and naming preferences.

The Department of Education will use this information to help inform the decision on this new school’s name. The Minister for Education will announce the new name in the coming weeks. We will share this new name once it is announced.

In the 2025–26 State Budget, this school received a share of $336.4 million allocated for new schools construction.
