About the project
We’re building a new primary school in Craigieburn. It will open for day one of Term 1 in 2026 and have places for up to 650 students, from Prep to Year 6.
When open for Term 1, 2026, the school will include:
- an administration and library building including spaces for art, science and food technology
- 3 learning neighbourhoods
- hard courts
- a sports field
- a community hub building.
Enrolments for 2026 are open
The school is open for enrolments for students in Foundation (Prep) to Grade 6.

Your new school name
The school was known by its interim name, Mickleham South Primary School, during planning and design. Gamadji Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Gamadji (pronounced gah-mah-gee) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning emerging creeks.
Principal appointment
Maria Marchionna has been appointed principal of Gamadji Primary School. Maria built a thriving school community as principal of Moomba Park Primary School in Fawkner. She did this by focusing on student learning and wellbeing. She also built trusted relationships with students, staff, and parents. Maria will foster a strong and inclusive school community to make sure all students reach their potential.
Funding
In the 2024–25 State Budget, this school shared in $947.7 million allocated for new schools construction.
