The real story of kinders at school | Barayip Primary School Kindergarten

[Upbeat music plays.]

[A woman in a red jacket and white top sits on a chair in a kindergarten room filled with wooden tables, chairs, shelves and toys. In the top right corner of the screen we see the text: Barayip Primary School Kindergarten. In the bottom left corner of the screen we can see the Best Start, Best Life logo]

Woman: The kindergarten can be central to bringing everyone together.

[On-screen text: Poonam Walia, Supervisor]

Poonam: So, like, school teachers, school children, kinder children, educators and the families, they can come at one place and connect with each other.

[The shot moved from Poonam to a playground with a shot of an educator holding on to a young girl’s hand as she climbs across logs. We then see an external shot of the kinder building]

[The shot moves back to Poonam in the classroom]

Poonam: Connecting with the school is really a good platform for the families to understand what kinder looks like.

[We move to panning shots of the empty kinder rooms full of small beige furniture, as well as some books on a shelf. And then we go back to Poonam in the classroom]

Poonam: People can come from school for information session at the kinder for the kinder families, to let them know what happens at school. We share a lot of school readiness information with the families.

[We see shots of young children playing with train tracks, and drawing in the classroom. We then see them playing outside on the playground, and then back to using art supplies in the classroom]

Poonam: They need to be socially ready. They need to be a confident learner. They should be capable to move around. They should be more confident to share their own visions.

[We cut back to Poonam]

Poonam: I think it’s very exciting, not only for myself, it’s for all the educators on the floor, management, children and the families.

[More panning shots inside empty classrooms. Then we see a young boy running along a path outside and playing on a toy cooking set]

Poonam: The building infrastructure is really great and I think it’s just like planting a seed and seeing how the seed is going to grow. The kids will love the outdoor space because it has lots of things to explore.

[We see short cuts of the sandpit, children on the swings, the shade sails and yarning circle]

Poonam: The sandpit, swing, I think water play and especially the natural environment, they can sit around, they can do the yarning outside. I can see lots of benches they made up and the tree logs are there so they can just sit around, talk to each other.

[We cut back to Poonam]

Poonam: So I think they’re going to explore a lot outside. They’re going to share their beautiful smiles, and they’re going to start building the connection with the other peers as well.

[We see the young boy and girl laying together with the toys in the classroom]

Poonam: And they’re going to expand their community.

[The kids are balancing on a log outside]
