The Bayswater Education Plan has really supported me, particularly as a new principal coming into the school to build really strong connections with the primary principals in the area – so our four Bayswater primary schools – and get the collaboration happening that we need to really lift education in the area of Bayswater.

I think it's exciting that this education plan is going to bring opportunities for the kids all the way through primary school, through high school. It's going to make education really cohesive through all the different years and also link in with the local industry and universities in the area as well. Just to make sure that kids get a really well-rounded education and opportunities when they leave to go onto the rest of their lives.

So we had school focus forums and then we had our plan-wide student forums. All of our kids, which was fantastic from the five schools, get together and brainstorm, really dig deep and work out what it was that the kids wanted. We've been working at raising the aspirations of our students and showing them what a growth mindset can achieve and how much they, as individuals, can do.

So we've got a lot of really exciting things in store for 2022, and the Ed Plan has been fantastic and Denise, our leader, has been wonderful at, you know, really keeping us all together and keeping us on track and making sure what we're planning is achievable. So continued moderation across the school, particularly with the writing stuff that we've already started, but also increased opportunities for collaboration.

The consultations were really good. It was great to be a part of a group being able to put our ideas forward and be part of formulating what education's going to look like in Bayswater into the future. I think we've got a really good look at what people in the area want.

We want the residents of Bayswater to have all of the opportunities that anybody else, anywhere else would have. We want them to have choice as well. Choice of the best schools in the area, which are Bayswater schools.
