Truganina North Primary School (interim name) - Introducing Joanna Stanford

[On-screen text: Introducing your new principal]

[Upbeat music plays throughout]

A smiling woman comes gradually into focus as she walks towards us.

Joanna Stanford (in voice over):  My name is Joanna Stanford. I'm really proud to be the foundation principal of your new school.

We see Joanna walking up a stairway.

Joanna enters a room and we see her speaking to someone off screen.

[On-screen text: What was your journey into education?]

Joanna: I always wanted to be a teacher. I had the privilege of being with so many exceptional educators and leaders, being mentored by them, worked alongside them, and I think that's made me the principal who I am today. I wanted to become a principal of a new school because I get to build that sense of culture, belonging and excellence with a new community who are so looking forward to a local school.

[On-screen text: What is your vision for the school?]

Joanna:  Our families are our first teachers. They know our children the best. So it's about bringing them into the magic and the mystery that happens at school and involving them in their child's education. Our school will be very transparent. We'll have a strong sense of belonging. Our families and students will feel really connected with our school. They'll understand the learning journey that their children will take.

And we do everything we can to allow our children to be the best that they can be.

[On-screen text: How will the design of the school help support students and teachers?]

Joanna: The designs are fabulous. The best thing about our school is that it has the kinder, the primary school, and the secondary school. So the design in itself leads for smooth transitions from kinder, primary, to secondary, and we know transitions are a really important movement point for our children.

The designs are state of the art. They deliver a really rich learning environment for our kids in which to learn, whether it be from their classrooms or their specialist areas.

The gym is amazing, so I can't wait to see those bricks and mortar and everything else come together to build the school that we can then build the culture of.

[On-screen text: What are you looking forward to on day 1, Term 1?]

Joanna:  What I'm looking forward to most on day one is the students walking through the gate. I really cannot wait for that moment. I'm going to be at that gate welcoming all of those kids into our school. I want our foundation students to have that sense of belonging from the moment they walk in the gate. And I want the students who are transitioning throughout the other year levels to walk in, look at their new school and go, wow
