About the project

We're building a new primary school in Truganina. It will open for day one of Term 1 in 2026. The school will have places for up to 575 students from Prep to Year 6, including 50 students with disabilities.

This school will help meet increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. It will help local students get high-quality education close to home.

When open for Term 1, 2026 the school will include:

  • 3 learning neighbourhoods
  • an administration and library building
  • outdoor hard courts
  • a community hub with indoor multi-use court, canteen and arts/music spaces
  • a sports field
  • a car park.

Enrolments for 2026 are open

Mindalk Primary School is a supported inclusion school. Supported inclusion schools are local government schools with some extra accessibility features. These features help them teach and support more students with a disability.

Your new school name

The school was known by its interim name, Tarneit Plains Primary School, during planning and design. Mindalk Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Mindalk (pronounced MIN-dulk) is a Bunurong Boonwurrung language word meaning wombat.

Principal appointment

Blayne Wallis has been appointed principal of Mindalk Primary School. She is committed to supporting her students to learn and grow in an inclusive environment. She is an experienced principal who has led in a variety of schools. Blayne develops successful teams that work together to meet the needs of school communities.
