About the project

We're building a new primary school in Wallan. It will open for day one of Term 1 in 2026 and have places for up to 525 students, from Prep to Year 6.

This school will help meet increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. It will help local students get high-quality education close to home.

When open for Term 1, 2026 the school will include:

  • an administration and library building including spaces for art, science and food technology
  • 2 learning neighbourhoods
  • a community hub
  • hard courts
  • a sports field.

Enrolments for 2026 are open

The school is open for enrolments for students in Foundation (Prep) to Grade 6.

You can find out if you're in the school zone by entering your address at findmyschool.vic.gov.au (select 2026 as the enrolment year).

For enrolment enquiries, please continue to email wallan.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au until the new school email is assigned. Learn more about enrolling in Foundation.

Your new school name

The school was known by its interim name, Wallan East Primary School, during planning and design. Muyan Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Muyan (pronounced moo-yun) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning silver wattle.

Principal appointment

Neil O’Sullivan has been appointed principal of Muyan Primary School. He has over 20 years experience in education. He has been principal of 2 government primary schools. He is an optimistic, passionate and self-driven leader and learner. He believes in providing individual pathways to support each student. Neil creates a school culture of high expectations and teamwork. He makes sure teaching and learning is evidence-based.
