About the project

We built a new primary school in the City of Wyndham. It opened in 2023, helping the growing local population get great education close to home.

The school will have space for 650 local students and is open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6.

Honey Stirling has been appointed as the principal of the school.

School zones are available online at findmyschool.vic.gov.auExternal Link .

    Funding

In the 2021–22 State Budget, this school shared in the $491.565 million for new schools construction.

    • Ngarri Primary School was chosen as the new school name following community consultation. Ngarri (pronounced narr-ee) is a Wadawurrung word meaning ‘sheoak’.

We used Holyoake Parade Primary School as an interim name while the school was being built and established.

    • Honey Stirling has been appointed as the principal of this school.

Honey has over 20 years’ experience in education, working in a range of schools with very diverse backgrounds. She has lived and worked in Wyndham for most of her career and is particularly excited to continue her journey as a principal in the City of Wyndham. Honey is passionate about providing an outstanding education for all students, with a strong focus on high academic achievement, improving the wellbeing of every child and building strong parent and carer community connections.

    • The school includes:

      • an administration building with a library, staff offices and amenities
      • 3 learning neighbourhood buildings with general purpose classrooms, and flexible and collaborative teaching spaces
      • a specialist learning neighbourhood for subjects such as food technology and science
      • a community hub with a competition-grade gymnasium, canteen, music and drama space
      • 2 outdoor hardcourts
      • a sports field
      • a bike shed.
    • School zones are available at findmyschool.vic.gov.au.

For enrolment queries, please email ngarri.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

    • Every new Victorian primary school will have a kindergarten on-site or next door. Co-locating kindergartens at primary schools provides many benefits for Victorian families, including making:

      • kindergarten programs easier to access
      • drop-off time simpler and more convenient
      • the transition from kindergarten to school smoother for children.

As such, we are partnering with Wyndham City Council to build Birnbial Family Centre, a 3-room kindergarten that can offer up to 99 kindergarten place for local families. It will also include maternal child health and allied health services.
