About the project

We're building a new secondary school in Kalkallo. It will open for day one of Term 1 in 2026 and have places for up to 800 students when the school is complete.

This school will help meet increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. It will help local students get high-quality education close to home.

When open for Term 1 2026 the school will include:

  • a double-storey building with:
    • administration areas and a library
    • learning neighbourhoods that include general classrooms as well as dedicated creative and science spaces
    • flexible learning spaces
    • a presentation area
    • an outdoor learning terrace
  • outdoor hardcourts and a carpark
  • landscaped outdoor areas with timber seating and shade sails.

We expect to complete a sports field and community hub by Term 2 2026.

Enrolments for 2026 are open

In its first year of operation, Ngayuk College will open to Year 7 students only, with an additional year level added each year. The 2026 school zones are available at findmyschool.vic.gov.au.

For enrolment enquiries, please continue to email lockerbie.sc@education.vic.gov.au until the new school email is assigned.

Your new school name

The school was known by its interim name, Lockerbie Secondary School, during planning and design. Ngayuk College was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Ngayuk (pronounced ngah-yook) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning white cockatoo.

Principal appointment

Anthony Oldmeadow has been appointed principal of Ngayuk College. He has held several leadership roles in government schools. While in these roles, he had a strong focus on improving teaching and learning. Anthony is passionate about supporting his students to grow and his staff to work together. He wants to build an inclusive and innovative school where all students can thrive and reach their full potential.

Funding

In the 2023–24 State Budget the school received a share of $573.178 million.
