About the project

We're building a new P–9 school in Werribee South. It opened in 2026, helping the growing local population get great education close to home.

Sadia Toqeer was appointed the first principal of the school.

The school was known by its interim name, Point Cook South P–9, during planning and design. Yurran P–9 College was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Yurran (pronounced YOO-ran) is a Boonwurrung language word meaning sugar glider.

Facilities

Yurran P–9 College is sharing the Ngurraga School site while construction on the P–9 college continues. The schools operate independently.

The P–9 school has access to:

a learning neighbourhood
an administration and library building including a first aid room and staff spaces
playgrounds and shaded areas
a half-court hardcourt
a shared multi-purpose building with dedicated spaces for physical activity and fitness, performing arts, food technology and a canteen.

We expect to complete the P–9 college by Term 1 2027. Yurran P–9 College will then have the following facilities:

4 double-storey buildings with:
- administration areas and a library
- learning neighbourhoods
- design, arts, technology and science spaces
- staff spaces
a community hub with indoor multi-use gymnasium and canteen, as well as spaces for:
- drama
- music
- food technology
an oval and playing field
4 outdoor hardcourts
outdoor play spaces for different age groups
2 carparks
a kindergarten (opening in 2027).

The school's permanent address will be 25 Dunnart Pde, Werribee South, 3030.

- Parts of the specialist school have been modified to accommodate P–9 students while the P–9 school is completed. This is to allow each school to operate independently. There are separate main entrances, reception areas, toilets, first aid rooms, learning spaces and playgrounds for specialist and P–9 students, along with separate staff areas.
- Safety is front of mind for all school designs. The shared schools have been designed and constructed to ensure all compliance requirements are met, including access, fire safety and emergency exits.
- The specialist school boundary fencing is designed to prevent unauthorised entry to or exit from the school. This fencing, combined with a design that supports child supervision, helps to ensure all children are safe within the shared site.
- The school is open for 2026 enrolments for students in Foundation (Prep) to Grade 5.
- All students who live in the school zone are guaranteed a place at the new school (for the 2026 school year this applies to students in Foundation (Prep) to Grade 5). Students who live outside the school zone can apply for enrolment and the school will enrol them in line with the Department of Education’s Placement Policy.
