Upgrade and Modernisation
About the project
We upgraded and modernised Upwey High School over three stages.
We opened the multipurpose building in March 2020. The building includes, a competition-grade gymnasium with four courts, administration wing and performing art facilities with recording space. The wider community can use these facilities outside of school hours. This was funded in the 2017–18 State Budget .
In stage two, we built an art, science, and technology building and demolished the old stadium. This was funded in the 2018–19 State Budget.
We completed two building refurbishments. They included:
- refurbishing the former administration area to become a new learning support area
- refurbishing Block C to include a new home economics and technology wing.
In the 2016–17 State Budget, $12 million was allocated to schools across the state for planning. This includes funding for Upwey High School. In the 2017–18 State Budget, $10 million was allocated to the school. In the 2018–19 State Budget, the school received $13.9 million to complete Stage 2 of the school master plan. In the 2019-20 State Budget, the school received $2.7 million.
