About the project

We allocated funding to the institute to build an early childhood education and care facility at its Parkville campus. This innovative 5-storey, purpose-built facility is the first of its kind provided by an Australian medical research institute as part of its commitment to gender equity.

Facilities

This new early learning facility provides high quality early learning programs (including innovative programs such as Little Scientists). It was designed in consultation with the institute's partners and families.

Each level is designed to meet the needs of specific age groups, and has shaded, external play areas. The ground floor provides a flexible, multi-purpose space suitable for combined activities, play groups, health and consultation services.

Services include long day care, occasional care and an early learning centre offering kindergarten programs for 3 and 4-year-olds.

Funding

As part of the 2016–17 Children's Facilities Capital Program Major Grants, $650,000 was allocated to the project.
