We're building a new primary school in Fraser Rise. It will open for day 1 of Term 1 in 2026 and have places for up to 525 students, from Prep to Year 6.

This school will help meet increasing enrolment demand from a growing local population. It will help local students get high-quality education close to home.

When open for Term 1, 2026 the school will include:

• 2 learning neighbourhoods
• an administration and library building
• outdoor hard courts
• a community hub with indoor multi-use court, canteen and arts/music spaces
• a sports field
• a car park. 

Enrolments for 2026 are open

The school is open for enrolments for students in Foundation (Prep) to Year 6.

Your new school name

The school was known by its interim name, Plumpton Primary School, during planning and design. Wiyal Primary School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Wiyal (pronounced wee-yil) is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung language word meaning peppermint tree.

Principal appointment

Paris Spencer has been appointed principal of Wiyal Primary School. She is a motivated and passionate school leader. She is committed to school improvement and empowering students to reach their potential. She builds a collaborative and inclusive school culture. Paris looks forward to sharing her passion for learning and wellbeing. She is excited to work with the community to establish the new school.
