About the project
We built a new specialist school in Werribee South. It opened in 2026, providing education programs for students with mild to profound intellectual disability.
Elaine Quinn was appointed the first principal of the school.
The school was known by its interim name, Point Cook South Specialist School, during planning and design. Ngurraga School was chosen as this new school’s name following community and Traditional Owner group consultation. Ngurraga (pronounced NGOO-ruh-guh) is a Boonwurrung language word meaning koala.
For enrolment enquiries or to learn more about the school, please email ngurraga.sch@education.vic.gov.au.
Facilities
Ngurraga School is sharing its site with Yurran P–9 College while construction on the P–9 college continues. The schools operate independently.
The specialist school has access to:
- 2 learning neighbourhoods
- an administration and library building including first aid and staff spaces
- playgrounds and shaded areas
- a half-court hardcourt
- a shared multi-purpose building with dedicated spaces for physical activity and fitness, performing arts, food technology and a canteen
- a secure carpark and bus drop-off area.
We expect to complete the P–9 college for Term 1 2027. Ngurraga School will then have the following facilities:
- 4 learning neighbourhoods including classrooms and staff spaces
- an administration and library building including staff spaces and first aid room
- a multi-purpose building with dedicated spaces for physical activity and fitness, performing arts, food technology and a canteen
- playgrounds and shaded areas
- multiple half-court hard courts
- a secure bus pickup/drop-off area
- a staff carpark.
