Fire has caused significant damage to Sandringham Primary School, in particular to the west wing, south wing, and library.
Sandringham Primary is an active construction site, with demolition works currently underway, and cannot be accessed by staff, students or the community until further notice.
It is likely that much of the external heritage-listed brick wall façade can be saved and we have appointed architects to plan and design the school rebuild.
Students were temporarily relocated to Sandringham East Primary School and Sandringham College to ensure their classes continued and they had the facilities they needed. As of term two, students were moved into a temporary village at Sandringham College until 2022 (see 'interim location' below for more details).
Support services, including counselling, have been made available to staff and students.
From the beginning of term two, 2020, Sandringham Primary will be located in its own temporary village at the junior campus of Sandringham College (Bluff Road).
We expect Sandringham Primary students will remain at the Bluff Road village for the 2020 and 2021 school years. We are working through the arrangements with both school communities to ensure all students and staff continue to be a part of a great learning environment.
You can read about these plans in more detail here (PDF or Word).

We consulted the community on the rebuild from 3 - 25 March. The consultation included an online survey and a face-to-face event. We’ve used the feedback to create a What We Heard report which will help shape the design of the rebuilt school.
