About the project

We are helping Mitchell Shire Council to build this centre.

The new centre will have 4 kindergarten rooms, maternal and child health services, primary health care and allied health services, and multipurpose spaces for the community. It will be able to offer kinder to up to 132 children at a time. It may be able to enrol more kids by spreading sessions throughout the week.

Wallan East Integrated Family and Children’s Centre will be next door to Wallan East Primary School (interim name) and Kindergarten.

Having the school and early childhood centres together may help local children make a smooth transition into primary school and can also make drop-off time simpler for some families.

Funding

This project received $9 million as part of the Building Blocks Partnership between the Victorian Government and Mitchell Shire Council. The Victorian Government has committed up to $23.4 million to support 4 BBP projects in the Mitchell Shire Council. These will create up to 601 kindergarten places in the local government area.
