We’re proud to announce the winners and finalists of the 2023 Victorian School Design Awards.
The awards recognise how architects are making Victoria a world leader in school and kindergarten design.
Our judges select finalists for the innovation, creativity and practicality their designs bring to the public schools and kindergartens we build and modernise.
These projects inspire students to learn and make it easier for educators to teach in. Some were designed to honour the history of the existing building. Others to incorporate the natural environment around them. Some of the designs reflect the principles of the subjects students will study in the spaces. Many demonstrate innovative environmental sustainability.
These awards help drive design excellence. They’re also a showcase to inspire other schools planning similar projects.
Best New Kindergarten or Early Learning Centre
The winner of Best New Kindergarten or Early Learning Centre was AOA Christopher Peck for Pinewood Child and Family Hub.
Best School Project below $5 million
The winner of Best School Project below $5 million was AOA Christopher Peck for Clifton Creek Primary School.
ROAM Architects was a finalist for their upgrade of a historic building at Chewton Primary School, and CO.OP Studio for their modernisation and expansion of Rosebud Secondary College.
Best School Project between $5 million and $10 million
The winner of Best School Project between $5 million and $10 million was Kerstin Thompson Architects for the design and technology hub at Dandenong High School.
Best School Project above $10 million
The winners of Best School Project above $10 million were Fieldwork + Brand Architects for the Centre for Higher Education Studies.
Jackson Clements Burrows Architects were a finalist for their modernisation and expansion of Windsor Primary School.
Minister’s Award
The winner of the Minister’s Award was AOA Christopher Peck for Clifton Creek Primary School.
